"N'time" by Seteria Dorsey

24 x 36 inches acrylic painting on canvas, (2015) -- framed

Seteria Dorsey remembers starting art at the age of six years old. Dorsey is an African-American self-taught female visual artist, content curator and co-owner of Black Art In America.  Her childhood was spent raised in Blytheville, Arkansas with her mother and two younger siblings.

In 1998, Dorsey graduated from formerly Mississippi County Community College, now known as Arkansas Northeastern College with an A.A.S. degree and later continued her education in Chemistry and psychology at Georgia State University (GSU). Dorsey’s life took her in the direction of her passion - - love of art.

Dorsey’s art has been featured in two major films: 2012 Lifetime Television remake of Steel Magnolias, and The Watson's Go to Birmingham, which has been showcased at Black Art In America™ Fine Art Show at the Faison Firehouse Theatre,  NY; Bentonville Fine Art Show, Arkansas; New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Louisiana; and Harlem Fine Art Show, NYC.  Her works grace the walls of many collectors across the country. Her art is composed of her thoughts regarding family and life experiences.

Her use of vibrant acrylic hues brings a sense of life and joy to each piece. Her southern subject matter tells a story that all can appreciate. Her non-representational abstract works also expresses new life, freedom, movement and a continuous journey.

"I feel very humbled, blessed and thankful with this artistic gift and find it rewarding to create works of art as unique as the pieces themselves, and being able to share it with others.”   “At this moment, I’m currently enjoying the abstract expressionism journey.  It allows for me to freely expose myself in a way that tranquilizes you into the depths of the soul.” ~Seteria Dorsey
