"Fog in Wyman Valley" by Sharon Killian
17 x 53" dry pastel on Arches watercolor paper
Sharon Killian Artist StatementThroughout the years I have worked in a variety of drawing and painting media, as well as in printmaking, photography, and sculpture. I primarily use a formalist approach to express my thinking about line. I use the subject to describe how the line begins and ends as a two-dimensional entity whether the resulting work is abstract, or representational. I live on a hill east of Fayetteville, Arkansas overlooking the White River and the Ozark Mountains. It provides an expansive view of the western and northern skies and nature continually challenges me to create a response through my work with formalist parameters. The incredible atmospheric skyscape is the current basis for my visual creations.
