"Harriett" by Lonnie Powell

39 x 29 inches (image size) oil painting -- framed (46 x 36 inches)

Lonnie Powell is a multimedia painter and community organizer. Powell is a graduate of Lincoln University, Jefferson City, Missouri where he was privileged to study under the guidance of the late James Dallas Parks, who's influence spread well beyond the sphere of art. Powell's paintings and drawings are housed in the Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art's permanent collection, the Arrowhead Arts Collection, and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. His paintings depict portraits of African American men and women. In 2001, Powell founded the Light in the Other Room, a collaborative of African American artists.
