The exhibition A Triple Middle Passage is organized by AMSET with guest Curator Danielle Burns of the African American Library at the Gregory School in Houston, Texas.  Known for his narrative paintings and outstanding draftsmanship, Harvey Johnson’s exhibit of paintings and drawings focuses on three themes: life, the transatlantic slave trade, and human transformation.  AMSET will produce a color catalogue including an essay by Burns. Johnson, a Port Arthur native, earned a bachelor of arts in education from Texas Southern University and a master of fine arts from Washington State University. He studied under artist, John Biggers and later taught for 34 years as a professor of art at TSU.
